| | | | | A Letter to New Students and Parents!!! | | Welcome to room 202 and the Fourth Grade! I am very excited to meet
every family with whom I will be working this year. I believe that a
strong link between teacher and family is a factor for student success.
Feel free to email to arrange a phone or face to face meeting.
suzanne.burton@spps.org Students in this classroom work
very hard to improve their academics in all areas. We have daily
homework in both math and reading, and we often have homework for
geography as well. Students also are required to read at least 30
minutes a night of their AR book. The transition into the intermediate
grades is difficult for many children. To help your child with the
added responsibility, check in with them about their homework and
learning using their daily planners.
Students and parents are
welcome to visit this website to see information about the
curriculum, interactive games to practice skills, and to just see
what's going on. At times, you may find student work and pictures that
will make your family very proud.
This year, we are very lucky to have two teachers in the classroom during literacy instruction. Mrs. Mischel-Moe will also be teaching reading, writing, and language skills. She and I work very closely to ensure the best education for your fourth grader. Finally, students in this
room are entering into a classroom that demands cooperation and kind
participation. At the beginning of the year, we focus on developing
interpersonal skills that will allow us to become a positive learning
team.
I am very excited to meet everyone of you and get started on our year of learning!!!
Your New Teacher,
Suzanne Burton

Social Studies This year in social studies, we will be studying US geography. We will be studying one region of the US at a time. Students should take time at least once a week to study the location and the capitol of each state within the current region of study. The first region we will study is the Northeast. Have fun this year leaning all about our geography! |
