Staff Profile

Ms. Amaya has taught at Como Park Elementary School since 2010, but she has been in the Saint Paul Public Schools since 1997.  She has a Bachelor's degree from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a Master's of Education degree in Second Languages and Cultures from The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.  She has experience in secondary schools but has recently taught in elementary grades kindergarten thru fifth grade.

When she is not teaching, she spends time with her family and friends.  She enjoys reading and dancing.

She lives in the Como neighborhood where she is proud to live and work within the same community.  She appreciates Como Park and Como Lake which are close to the school.  If you are walking around the lake, you may see her.  Be sure to wave and say "Hello!"

She loves being part of such a diverse school of learners.  Everyday she learns new things about her students, their languages, and their cultures.
