Mr. Tufte

Jon Tufte has been the physical education teacher for Como Park elementary since 2022. When Mr. Tufte is not teaching, he is the head coach for the Como Park High School Girls and Boys swim teams.

In his classes, Mr. Tufte combines various elements to foster a well-rounded physical education experience. He incorporates mobility training, including stretching and yoga, to enhance flexibility and overall fitness. Engaging physical games such as "ships across the ocean" and tag are employed to promote active participation and enjoyment. Additionally, students have the opportunity to engage in competitive sports like soccer, track and field, and tug of war.

Mr. Tufte believes in ensuring equity for all athletes and actively advocates for the positive promotion of healthy competition in sports. Throughout his classes, he instills the values of fairness and sportsmanship, encouraging students to understand the importance of creating a level playing field, fostering teamwork, and embodying the principles of fair play.
